The new Suzuki GSX-R125 topped the speed tables in MCN’s recent 125cc sports bike test, beating its competitors from Yamaha, Honda, KTM, Aprilia, and Motorini.

Each machine was data-logged, with the same rider aboard each bike for its top speed run. The GSX-R125 recorded an actual top speed of 72.75mph, comfortably bettering the speeds set by the RS125, YZF-R125, RC125, CBR125, MT125RRi.

The testing team also ranked the bikes based on on-track performance, with the GSX-R125 again topping the tables.

MCN said of the GSX-R’s performance, “the Suzuki was the most impressive, with its compact size and light steering making it a pleasure to chuck about in the tight second-gear turns. On the straights, the free-revving motor offered silky-smooth power, encouraging the rider to keep it wound on for as long as possible.”

Boasting the best power-to-weight ratio in its class, the GSX-R125 is also currently available on Suzuki’s low-rate finance campaign, with 3% APR representative and a minimum deposit of just £33.

Suzuki has unveiled its new MotoGP livery for the 2018 season, and with it a new replica paint scheme for its award-winning GSX-R1000R and GSX-R1000.

Unveiled at a preseason MotoGP test at Sepang, Malaysia, the new livery is an evolution of the eye-catching blue with bold Suzuki wording, but for 2018 introduces the use of a stealthy black to the usual yellow details, and is available on both the GSX-R1000R and GSX-R1000.

Available in dealerships from March, the MotoGP replica GSX-R1000R comes with an RRP of £16,099, while the GSX-R1000 is priced at £13,599.

Halsall Racing and Tommy Bridewell will reunite for the 2018 British Superbike season, with the likeable West Country rider campaigning the new GSX-R1000. He will be joined in the Movuno.com-backed outfit by Tom Ward in the Superstock 1000 class.

Halsall Racing and Tommy Bridewell last joined forces for the 2016 season, where they successfully raced the previous generation of the GSX-R1000, taking podiums and pole positions throughout the year.

Bridewell said after the news broke, “Martin [Halsall, team owner] and I have always stayed close friends, and when we first spoke about working together again, I said I would like to be back on a Suzuki. Martin went out and sorted it, and he’s brought back the Italian mechanics we’ve worked with before, which is so important to me.

“Now I believe we have all the tools for the job. I’m feeling very confident that we can be fighting for the podium from round one. I’m very pleased to be back with the Movuno.com Halsall Racing outfit and I’m just eager to get out there now. I can’t wait to see what we can do, and I’m certain we can be serious contenders from the outset this year.”

Tom Ward said on his ascension to the Superstock 1000 class, “I’m super-excited to be part of a team this year, as I’ve been a privateer for the last couple of years. It’s such a great opportunity, stepping up to a team with such a wealth of experience and to have Tommy as my teammate.

“It will be a new challenge as I’ve not ridden a 1000 before, but I feel it will suit my riding style. I’m really looking forward to throwing a leg over the new Suzuki and we will hopefully get a good base for the bike when we go testing, so I can hit the ground running at round one.”

Martin Halsall commented at the team’s announcement, “I’ve wanted Tommy back since we left superbike at the end of 2016, and I’ve also felt we had a lot of unfinished business with the Suzuki, so this is probably my dream team combination.”

“We’ve put a fantastic team in place, and we are here to fight for the title. I’ve always believed in Tommy and what he can do, and I believe this year will be our best yet.

“Bringing Tom into the team in Superstock 1000 is another new step for us. It’s great to be able to help bring on a young, up-and-coming rider and I think Tom has fantastic potential and will surprise a lot of people this year.

“It’s going to be a busy 2018 for everyone involved at Movuno.com Halsall Racing, but we’re all raring to go and looking forward to the season ahead. Hopefully we will have plenty to celebrate as the year moves on.”

Suzuki is bringing in the new year by launching a new finance offer, which allows customers to build their own bespoke deal that best suits their needs. Available on a range of models in the 2018 lineup, the offer allows customers to choose either a 2% APR and two-year agreement, 3% APR over three years, or 4% APR over four years. Customers can also choose between a PCP agreement or opt for a hire purchase deal, with a minimum deposit of £199.

The new offer is available on both the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 1000 - as well as the XT variants of both adventure machines and the new GT models - the new GSX-R1000, plus the GSX-R-powered GSX-S1000, GSX-S1000F, and the GSX-S750. The new Burgman 400 and the bigger Burgman 650 are also available as part of the offer, as is the new SV650X and the standard SV650 machine, and the iconic Hayabusa.

Suzuki GB national sales manager, Jonathan Martin, launched the new offer, saying, “Our latest offer really allows customers to tailor the deal to best suit their needs. A lot of customers will prefer the PCP option, paying lower monthly repayments and being in a position to change for another new machine in two, three, or four years. Others will prefer to continue paying per month, with no final payment, and own the bike outright at the very end. This offer gives people the choice, while both types of customer can still enjoy the benefit of selecting the term of their agreement and, as a result, the APR. It gives customers the control when buying a new Suzuki for the season ahead.”

SR75 World Team Suzuki claimed a double podium finish at round one of this year's Arenacross championship, with Cyrille Coulon and three-time champion Thomas Ramette finishing second and third overall in the main event.

Racing the all-new RM-Z450 for the first time in 2018, it was a tale of two different routes to the main event for both riders. Coulon dominated his heat races, taking two wins to get his night off the perfect start.

In contrast, his teammate, Ramette, raced to fourth in his opening heat, but suffered some bad luck in heat two when he stalled his machine. He finished ninth. It meant the defending champion was forced to proceed through the last chance qualifier in order to make the main event.

As the gate dropped for the night's final time, Coulon and Ramette both made a scalding start to get away at the front. There, they raced long and hard for the win, eventually coming away with second and third placed finishes to get the 2018 Arenacross series off to a solid start.

Team manager, Geoff Walker, said after the event, "The guys were amazing on what was a pretty wild night in Manchester. Cyrille bossed both of his heats, while Thomas never gave up despite some horrendous bad luck. Coming through the LCQ to make the main was a testament to the man's determination.

"For both riders to then put on a display in the main and smash a 2-3 finish was breathtaking, and it's a solid start to the tour. Congratulations to the guys, and of course, to Charles Le Francois on his victory."
